Keeping the Name the Same!
For me anyway Honda has created something special and hopefully something that may live on for a while !
I hope for the sake of Building a Foundation for the Future that they keep the name the same and do not call the new car the S2200!!!!!
The Porsche 911 comes to mind ; with each new update they did not call it a different name!!!!! It is still the 911!~
So someone let AHM know that they should come up with some new ideas like lets call the new car the S2000 Si with the S standing for Second version and the i for i-vtec !!!!!
and with only a small Si badge on the trunk ! What do you guys think about that??? Maybe if they do not choose that maybe go for S2000 2.2 ??????
And on a different subject someone please , please tell HONDA please make the MONTE CARLO BLUE for USA customers !!!!!

Actually, in accordance with past S models; it should be called the S2200 (considering it's gettting a 2.2L). The old S500, S600, S800 and the S2000 all had displacements of 500cc, 600cc, 800cc, and 2000cc (give or take a few) respectively. If they don't change the name they'll be braking a really old tradition. That's why they're called what they are. The S800's revved to 11k RPM from the factory by the way. I totally agree with you about the Monte Carlo Blue Pearl though.
I know about the tradition and all but try saying S2200 several times . It just does not sound the same to me !
It is like saying I drive a Porsche 912 ! WTF?????
The 911 has and always will be the 911 ! Lets hope we can say the same about the S2000 being Hondas sports car!!!! And besides not many people in the US even remember a S500 or S800 !!!!!!

Well, couldn't you say that about alot of cars though? I mean, my parents have an '02 Chevy Suburban and as far as I know it's always been called that; even with alot of different engines. To me, that kind of makes the S cars more special. Also, I'm sure people in Japan remember the older S cars; and that's Hondas home market. Until Honda says what it's going to be called though, this is all speculation anyway. Just my opinion.
What I was hoping was until they put a 3 liter V6 and make it the S3000 was to keep the name the same!
Also my friend at work pointed out that there was a Prelude 2.0 Si with a 2.1 liter motor so I do not see the harm in keeping with that little tradition !

I agree with F20Flex. S2200 Doesn't flow the same, but the car won't be the same either. (Note: If you are saying S two thousand and two hundred opposed to S twenty-two hundred, it's going to sound ridiculous anyway) Besides, seeing as the car itself is going to be changing, a lot of the current owner's feel that the changes being made are changing the nature of the car, which is it's wondrousness. SO, by changing the nature of the car it's like they are changing the car itself and the name should go with it. Also, I think it's sort of a pride thing I suppose to have the original S2000.

Check out the Porsche 912 here
Speaking of though, Porsche and Honda are VERY different companies, each with their own traditions, so I think to say that because Prosche didn't change the name Honda shouldn't either, doesn't say too much.

Your right! Porsche did make a 912 which was a 4 cyl which most people do NOT REMEMBER !!!!! My point here!!!!!
The 911 has turned out to be A LEGEND IN ITS OWN TIME!!!
Which is what I was hoping to get at with keeping the name the same is to hopefully start A LEGEND FOR HONDA !!!!!!!
Well it already is to a lot of us ! But a lot of people still do not know that Honda even makes a convertible!!!!!!
And like you guys am hoping that they do not screw up the new car but if its any indication the RSX with the i-vtec will kill an Integra VTEC performance wise !!!!!!

Do you have to put multiple exclamation marks after every sentence!!!! It gets very annoying!!! Do you talk like this all the time!!!!!
Anyway, Honda should definitely change the name if they are to change the engine size. To say that the 911 name hasn't changed and because of that the S2000 shouldn't change either isn't a good reason at all. The number is tradition, which has reflected the engine size of the S series since the beginning of it. 911 doesn't reflect the engine size, it is just a naming number.
