Kelly (for what it's worth) has finally published data on the '00 S2K. They are showing an average trade-in value for a 17K mile car (mine) of $31,445. Their average dealer retail is $36,585. Is this based on actual dealer reporting? Nada has yet to publish any data on the Stook according to my internet site.

That sounds a bit high for TRADE IN!!!!.. I doubt that anyone could sell their own outright for that much... look on ebay at the prices.... hell some new ones have been offered for less than that!

KBB is usually high on all accounts.... so basically when you do some buying don't ever spend what kbb indicates.

If you got $34K for a trade-in, what did you pay for the 2001? MSRP? or MSRP + $$$$.$$?

Wow...If the data is accurate, I like Currently I also have about 17K miles on the STooK so my S2K depreciates about $5K in 18 months.

Usually if a dealer gives you a great price on a trade-in, he's making up for it elsewhere in the deal. One of the more clever "tricks" dealers use to make money. If the customer insists on a very low purchase price, make up the difference in the trade-in. If the customer is trying like heck to get a good deal on the trade-in, he's not paying as much attention to the price of the new car. Plus there's the benefit that both sides walk away thinking they did great.

$34,000 is a great trade in for a '00 if the '01 was sold at $37,000 or more

(math on that one: $34,000 used sold later at $31,000 = -$3000. ~$29,500 invoice sold at $37,000 = $7,500 profit. $7,500 - $3000 = $4,500 profit! Which is more than a straight '01 would sell for at MSRP)

just so you guys know (I am in the process of selling my car), the Kelley Blue book really doesn't mean much. If you are trading in for another brand of car, the S2000 basically gets a wholesale bid.

I've talked to 3-4 different dealers on the phone and given them only VERY general information on the car (Color, Year, Mileage)... They all come back with the same amount, which is the wholesale value.

If you plan on trading up, then the numbers to get adjusted as was mentioned earlier by hoof.

As of yet, I have NO, as in ZERO takers in trying to sell my 19000 mile black S2000 for 28000. KBB trade in for a car in GOOD condition is 30500... I'm actually getting less than my asking price as a trade in.

Of course, I will try calling a few more dealers now that there is a KBB value, but I sorta doubt it will change things...

If you know anyone looking for a clean, black S2000, the first 28000 gets it

new clutch at 16k (TSB054) and new rear window at the end of March.

I'm the second owner and the car is better than when I bought it...

OK... this was a loaded answer... Todd paid something like $37k+ for the car originally... then again paid well over sticker for the yellow one .... plus.. that was something like 6-8months ago..... so.... You are the weakest link...goodbye...ahahah...

Rahal Honda has a used silver w/ red interior and a comptech exhaust at an asking price of $31,900, a new yellow for msrp... and they "claimed" to have been sold out of all of them for as far out as they could see.... just like wal-mart... prices are dropping!
