Kenwood MP3 player

For those that are interested, the shop that I work for got 2 of these units this week. They look very sharp. But (might be the disk that I wrote), it doesn't "hang" sometimes. But overall, it's an excellent unit. The point that I like about this unit is that it can read CD-RW. Which means, you can use 1 CD-RW for the rest of your S2000 lifetime. Anyway, I'll try to post some pics tom.

You can only rewrite to a CD-RW approximately 10 to 15 times. After that, it's ability to record is hindered. I don't know the exact reason why, but I've gotten errors when recording. I asked our "computer" guy at work, and he confirmed that it can only rewrite a dozen or so times. He even gave me an explanation for it, but I can't recall what it was.

Totaly agree bbsilver. I've had the z919 for about a month now and have had no problems with my CDR burns. CDRW does not interest me in the slightest because CDR's are so cheap, not to mention that they burn faster. I have a 12x burner but it only does CDRW's at 4x. Buh.
My biggest complaints are with the MP3 functionality:
Slow track access
Lack for fast-forward
Funky random play (It would be nice if it remembered which tracks it has already played to avoid repeats.)
The 30 character file limit does not really bother me anyway. I'd probally hit a tree or something if I read anything longer than that whilst driving.
Here's a pretty crappy set of pics: http://www.highiq.com/s2000/Pic00013.jpg http://www.highiq.com/s2000/Pic00015.jpg http://www.highiq.com/s2000/Pic00017.jpg

Yes it does, on my Seattle trip a couple weeks ago we had LOTS of fun with the Kenwood Z919
One thing we noticed, is that it wouldn't play an mp3 sometimes, I think this was combined with humidity and the heat of our 400 mile drive. Once we got to seattle it started to not play a CD anymore, we turned it off for 10 minutes, then we played it the rest of the time with no problems!

I had that Kenwood model, then I returned it. Now, don't get me wrong, it's a high quality head unit (For around $650, it better be), however I'm an impatient person and waiting 5-7 seconds to go to the next track is just too long for me. It doesn't help either that it takes around 15-20 seconds to switch folders. However, if you're patient unlike me, then it's for you.
