Default Key stuck in CF hood

If the post is in the wrong forum, please move, sorry about that. I do not know where to post exactly

Long story short, I was unlocking my hood to get under and it worked fine. When I went to lock the hood again, the key got stuck and would not come out.
The allen keys do not come out because there are washers on the inside

This is the hood I have and this is the type of key/lock I have.

Took this to a body shop and they said the only option is to use vice grips to take them out. If it breaks there's nothing they can do but cut open into the hood and destroy it just to get the hood off, meaning I need a new hood

Any ideas?

Thank you so much for your time

if the latch is up y cant you open the hood? if the pin is stuck all you need to do is push down on the hood and the pin will release

o ok... in that case yeah put some pliers on there and pull the key out. try not to twist the key and snap it some wd40 should help. worst case you should be able to drill it out with out damaging the hood only the latch. then you can get the hood open and replace the latch

Should be able to drill right down on that red slot that holds the pin.
They buy yourself a set of real Aerocatch hood latches.

You could just drill the 6 mounting screws and save the assembly, maybe just needs to be freed up with some grease or WD as suggested earlier.

This the key has to line up with the index shot to come out. Some only come out when the lock is locked (one index slot); others come out locker or unlocked. I can't see the slots in the hood fitting. The loose lock has two slots. Push down on the key while turning. Push down on the hood too. Wiggle the key back and forth until it moves. These are cheap, easily bypassed locks (I've seen it done with a beer can tab). Try your other key too.

I'm guessing you never oiled your lock, and it is rusting/seizing up now. Try some oil and you may eventually be able to get the lock to turn, and then free the key. Then you can see about replacing the lock.
