I just dont want to have to take the keys out of my pocket. i keep the key now separate from the fob and my other keys because it dangles down and touches my leg. And it just single key so im prone to misplaceing it.

Also they may not have had the abiliity in 99 but what kept them from adding it in 08 on the cr?

i think having both start button and needing to turn the key defeats the purpose as well.

I read that having the push start button is for when you're on the track, spin out and stall your car. You can use your right hand to shift into first or reverse and right hand to start the car so you can have the car get moving much faster and less chances of being hit.

That bike link above...

I had a quick look over it and seems simple enough... The only concern is maybe the antenna... it seems it needs to be close to the fob.. you could have it so the aerial was in a hole and you just put the fob in there... unless there is a way with which you could increase the range... maybe with the use of the car's body shell?

but tbh there is a 3 sec delay b4 starter motor, so probs faster to jst put key in ignition :s
nothing wrong with a little buildup before

I wonder if this is why Porsche puts the ingnition to the left of the steering wheel?

cool idea. but ours was conceived before this stuff really started taking off just a couple years ago. it was in the LAST MILLENIUM when this started in the S... just like HID lights.

i like ours because after 9 years... we can say ours has history! and as said... more F1 style?

I don't really mind it... Its just natural for me now. Sometimes, when I drive a different car; I put the key in and look for the start button. doh!

That would make sense, but most of the time, when I spin out and the car stalls, it doesn't start up right away anyway

Well, the reason for a start button has been correctly mentioned above. In the case of a stall out on the track, you just have to press the start button again to attempt to start the engine.. you don't have to fumble for the key, turn the ignition off, then turn it back on. Saves precious time and is much better from a safety standpoint. I suppose there is no real need for a key anymore, but did any car have keyless start in 1999? I can't think of any.

I think the my00 s-class had it. it was known as "keyless go". That means that it would have been possible for the s2000 to have it since they would have both came out near the same time.
