Default kids in a S2k

This came up in a thread I started to find out if you could cut off the passenger airbag. I have a 4 y/o that may ride with me on occasion. Some members said they wouldn't do it as a wreck would seriously injure or kill.

Why exactly would you not have a child in the S2K? The cars are built to handle a certain amount of force. I have a 93 reg cab pickup that she rides in, would that be any better in a crash? I am not sure that it would be.

Should children only ride in camry types or suv's? Keep your thoughts coming...

Small children should not ride in an S2K because of the risk of the airbag deploying, even in a relatively "minor" accident.
There are many instances of the airbag KILLING a small child.
They deploy with incredible force, and it is a brutal impact to their heads.
DO NOT let small children ride in the front of ANY car equipped with airbags.
(Unless of course you can switch it off) But that is unfortunately not a feature of the S2000.
The owner's manual goes into additional details and should be required reading.
Cheers,
Daniel

I would not put a child in a front seat unless the airbag could be turned off or disabled. My initial inquiry questioned if this could be done to the S2000. I would not buy if i could not.

wow.....I can't believe that the pass. airbag is unable to be disabled. I guess that this way, there is no possibility of a lawsuit if one should decide to go against the grain.

I don't remember their screen name, but I'm almost positive I read about someone who had an airbag cut-off switch installed. Have you tried a search?
