Default Knowing what you know now, any regrets owning your S2000

Hi -

I'm seriously considering a local S2000 (see earlier post) and before I get too far into the negotiation I'd like to know if any owners have regretted, or had second thoughts, about their purchase. I'm a big fan of handling, but with so many brands of really interesting cars for sale, I'm concerned that having a high revving engine without significant low end torque will get me frustrated as I live in a city/suburban area and there aren't a lot of open roads without driving a bit to get there.

Another request - is there a book or Honda article that fully describes the engineering and development of the S2000?

Thanks in advance.

My only regret is that I didn't buy one earlier. I've owned my MY04 since September 04 and have 67K miles on her. NO REGRETS. I kind of doubt that I'd want it as a daily driver, though. At least not in winter.

none whatsoever. I've had MY04 since Dec of 2003 and it has never given me any problems except the ones I've caused myself. It's still going strong at 92k + miles on original clutch as well.

No regrets here!! I came from an 01 (AP1), to an 06 (AP2), and the changes made a big difference in daily driving for me. Seeing as you're looking at an AP2, it's really not bad at all around town. The added torque makes it easier to accelerate, a lot more livable in around town city driving then the AP1.

My only regret is that I bought one for 11K after my RSX got totaled, instead of spending the 16K I had spent on the RSX on a lower mileage S2k in the first place. That said, 105.6k miles on my 2001, runs like new, opened it up, retainers look perfect, valve-train looks new and no sign of sludge, the car literally seems like a new car.

no regrets here either

it was my daily for 2 years and now the only problem I have is...motorcycle or S2000 to work everyday. The S is a very long term keeper

just around town and traffic often? id opt for a mazdaspeed 3 power/fun all the time and dont need an open road to enjoy it. torque steer is unfavorable but not a big deal considering all else. good luck on whatev purchase! i do love my s2k but wouldnt be able to appreciate driving in sh*t conditions
