lag
i got a 04 s2k and when i redline in first gear, and switch to 2nd, there's lag, like 1-2 second lag before it starts goin up again. anyone have a suggestion what this is or is it normal? and when i start my car, the maintence check light blinks a good 10 times and then it stops, is this normal?

Please read your owner's manual. It tells you all about the blinking MAINT REQUIR'D light. It's not a big deal, just a reminder to get service.
As for your "lag", your description is too vague to offer you an answer. If you think there is something wrong, have it looked at.

what i meant by the lag was, when ill change my gear at 1st at about 7900-8000 rpm, then when i switch to 2nd, it'll stay at about 6500 for about 2 seconds, then drops to about 6000 before it starts goin again.
the service should be free right? i mean for the maint check

OK, there isn't enough info, but here is my guess.
2nd gear ratio is 65% lower than first. A perfect shift at 8000 rpm would make the right 2nd gear rev-match to be around 5200 rpm. You're probably letting the clutch out slowly, (i.e. the 2 seconds) where the clutch and drive wheels are slowing the engine. Your still accelerating while slipping the clutch, and when it finally grabs at 6000 rpm.
FYI, when accelerating full throttle (especially 1-2) you have to really let off the gas while shifting or the engine will not drop enough revs to get a smooth shift.
