Why do people wiggle the shifter 8 times once it's in neutral?

 

he probably got shocked by the close call incident lol..

 

I had seriously had to watch this vid like 5 times just to try to understand what the hell the Lancer driver could've been thinking? It still doesn't make sense to me. Luckily there wasn't a car in either lanes adjacent to the S.

 

Wiggle it three times your playing with it... Wiggle it eight times your having a ball.

I think the lancer swerved to avoid hitting the s2000. They were probably not paying attention, close call though.
