I've gone minimalist on keys. Had the whole house re-keyed so everything -- even our shed -- is on the same key. So, One Honda key, one Acura key, One house key, and the Honda's transmitter (I don't carry a second one for the spousemobile). No fob, decorations, etc.
I still like Saab's colution, put the ignition switch in the console; you could have a Mall Security Cop keyring and still no stress on the switch.
Car key, key fob, apartment key, parent's house key, two red bull cola tabs and a Las Vegas key chain thingie that is metal with two spinning die. 83+k miles and my switch is not broken yet. I don't think a few oz is going to kill it, you guys might be a little crazy worrying about that. Just mho.
I sell the mini S2000 keychains pictured.

I have too many keys. I keep them all on a carabiner. I have my s2000 key and python fob (big as hell, lol), key to my apt, key to the mailbox, key to get in my apt building, remote to get in the gate to my apt, key to my parents house, and of course a bottle opener. Can't leave home without that. lol
