Wow thanks a lot guys. That SURE was helpful...well I'm still hoping for a last s2000 with some nice upgrades such as speakers, stereo, sound insulation, unique wheels, badging, etc. It would help distinguish it from the last 9 generations of s2000s. The evo 9 ended with the SE package. The current sti ended with the Limited edition. So why can't the s2000 end its 10 years production cycle with something similar? Its possible...

Well hopefully honda will come out with a SE package for the 2009 s2000. A SE package would fit most people, not like the CR, which only appeals to track nuts.
so the special edition you want is a waterdown s2k?

stereo, sound insulation, badges?

if you don't already notice, honda doesnt like to crank out something just for the sake of crank out something.

the last thing a MFG want is their sport/special car like every other car in the market. think of it this way, if your fun car drives like a rental car, it's not that much fun in it isn't it?

An SE is not out of the question for a final year S2000. Honda does it for its other models, but it would probably be little more than an SE badge.

I don't know why everyone is assuming Honda would all the sudden make some soft-auto S2000.

Maybe a special color, some special trim, maybe different wheels, and an SE badge, but being Honda, the changes would be small. Don't expect more sound insulation, a better stereo, etc. Honda doesn't care that much about the S2000 imo.

2007 Accord SE, since we're getting a new Accord in 08 - http://cars.about.com/od/honda/fr/pp_07accordse.htm

2005 Civic SE, when we got the new Civic in 2006 - http://cars.about.com/od/honda/fr/pp_05hndcivicse.htm

Same with the 06 CR-V, and other models...

SE Honda's are well known for last-model years, and I think 09 will be the last year for the current S2000, but if you're looking to but one, don't wait another year on the hope of getting something special. Buy an 07 or 08 and start enjoying the car now.

A stereo, sound insulation, and badges would hardly water down an S2000.

When I bought my S people were saying 2005 or 2006 was going to be the last year, and a special edition may follow. If I waited for that SE, I'd still be waiting four years later! If you want an S, just go buy one. You can always trade up later.

I would expect that the CR is Honda's answer to what you're waiting for.

I certainly wouldn't hold my breath on a factory supercharger or anything; if you want that, you'd be best searching FI options on s2ki to see what's been successful. And aside from FI, there's not a lot that can be done to tweak an S. You'd be best finding a price you like from the '07 clearances and a shop that can customize the car to your preferences.

I don't think the CR is the Special edition. The CR is certainly a limited editon version of the S, but I doubt that would be the SE version as its doubtful 2008 is the last year and the CR is a very different car, designed to be a track car. SEs are traditionally dressed up versions of the normal production car but are essentially the same thing.

Saying the CR is a special edition is similar to saying the Civic Si is a special edition. Kind of, yeah, but its more of a different trim level, and different from what Honda typically does with its final-year models.

I sure hope it isn't the last year. I need to find me a nice clean example in the next few years. IMO though, I do think it is the last year because they introduced a limited edition and the S2000 engineer has retired and sales aren't exactly on the rise. I hope they give it at least until 2009.

Well I did ask one of the guy at Honda and he says, "Uh.. I can't say, hahhaa"

Well to me last or not it will be gone soon anyways because 2009 should be the mark of new S2k and NSX that was reported in magazine and stuff.

Last the Father of S2K is retire, so special edition? NAY!!!!!
CR is his last gift to us. DONE!!!

I am hoping Honda makes an S2000 Value Package with a K24 and automatic transmission with cloth seats and sells it for 3-4k less.
