Honda XGA
A new type of sports car.

The internal name given to the S2000's replacement is XGA. We had thought all along that the XGA would be a 4-door sports car showcasing Honda's SH-AWD system used in the RL and its advanced hybrid technology (remember the Dual Note concept car?). Well, now we're hearing the company is leaning toward producing a coupe based on the RL platform, but equipping it with either the V-8 or V-10 for the NSX replacement.

Honda will surely equip the luxury coupe with its SH-AWD system, creating a car that would match up with the likes of the Nissan GT-R. If the XGA and the next NSX make it to production as we foresee, it would mean that all of Honda's sporty cars would be awd. Could Honda be trying to redefine the classic sports-car formula, and change the way we think about sports cars and awd? It's a definite possibility because Honda has expressed that much confidence in the capabilities of its SH-AWD.

The XGA will be front engine and look quite different from the RL, and it may go head-to-head with the GT-R. A hint of its styling may be seen in the Sports4 Concept shown at the Tokyo Motor Show.

While it's still too early to tell when this car will be available, we're sure that Honda is hard at work to reestablish its image as one of the world's leading sports-car makers. It shouldn't be long after the end of the S2000's run that we'll start seeing exciting new stuff from this technology-driven company.

You do realize that that article has been confirmed as an APRIL FOOLS DAY joke, right? Don't know where you've been hiding, but virtually everyone on this board and in the world knew this to be a JOKE. And having talked to people in the auto journal world, it has also been confirmed that that one mag article took some liberties by exaggerating the claims that the S2000 was to be discontinued. The XGA was never to replace the S2000 and it too, is pure speculation. I'm not going to get into a pissing match with you. You believe what you like. The rest of us on this board and all over the world will believe what we believe.

Slow IS this board's most expert S2000 guy, mechanically and otherwise. He works at a Honda dealership and anything he says can be taken to the bank. So, if he says his dealership has real live brochures in hand, they HAVE real live brochures in hand.

Oh and did you know that one British press took that Home Page article and regarded it as gospel and published their article based on it? I've been in contact with the guy who dreamt that up and he's rolling in the isles laughing his ass off that his article suckered so many world wide agencies into believing it.

You refered to a thread that had nothing but people yappin in it.

That guy might be 100% correct, I'd like to see a brochure in my honda dealership because they don't have one.

Either way I don't think any of these article said this was going to be the last year in the first place. Even the R&T article says that there is speculation that the XGA will be in between the s2000 and NSX.

And the S2000 WILL be discontinued ... the point is that we won't really know when until close to the time it happens. Typically Honda makes official announcements such as these in the late summer. I've been in the S2000 community since January 2000 and it gets frustrating when the same claims about the demise fo the S2000 are made over and over again, year after year. Read the thread, it is a pretty complete example of the gullibility of many people.

In my opinion xviper isn't hostile, he is expressing frustration that so many people have a difficult time distinguishing heresay from substantive claims.
