I can get a perfect launch from 4k all day long... I hold it at 4k and let out the clutch and go WOT all in one motion. I don't dump it, I just let it out quick. This does use the clutch but I removed my CDV so there isn't too much slip. The wheels do tend to spin a good bit on most roads.

The AP2 does have a lower 1st gear, more tq and a heavier flywheel so that could be why I have less issues. I've been in an AP1s with gears and it seemed to launch like a rocket so maybe some gears are all you need...
