Launching???
Wassup everyone! I'm posting this topic regarding the method(s) of launching the S. Can someone please enlighten me and well as many others on what is the best method to smoke someone on the stoplight. Today I got beat by a 4 door M3. He beat me off the line two times and from there I just couldn't catch up. I am totally beating myself up from this encounter because I know I can eat this car up. So, please, anyone (Greg, Sev) hook me up with the 411(info)! Thanks. Latez!
Oh yeah, there are two ways I launch. The first is where I launch and the car lurches forward in whip-lash form than it slowly speeds up. The second way is when I screech the tires for like a second and then I go. I presume the second way is the best, but how do I stop spinning the tires and have them hook up with tarmac. Thanks ahead of time. Latez!
Yo, here's a shout out to my peeps, yo ... (whatever that means...

Not that I am encouraging this type of anarchical behavior, but if you want to launch hard, drop the clutch at at least 7 grand. I don't do much stop light at all (...
...) but I have found the best way to drop the clutch it to put your toes on the bottom of the clutch pedal, goose the throttle and simply slip your toes off the clutch pedal. Those knobs on the pedals are too grippy for me to be able to slip it off the side.
Once you drop the clutch at ~7k, depending on the conditions, your tires are going to spin. This is good. Let them spin for a second and then if they keep spinning (again, depending on conditions), back off the throttle a little to let the tires hook up. Otherwise you'll sit there, spinning your tires and look like an even bigger punk...
Your second "method" sounds like what you need to do if you want to be king of the stop lights. But if you keep spinning and I HOPE you know this, just back off the throttle a little, but make sure to keep the launch in VTEC.
Peace out, lates, word up...whatever the hip word du jour is...and most of all, play safe!

Right on Greg! No offence but lay off the slang. It just doesn't sound right coming from you.
I slang because I grew up in a Hip Hop community where that's the cool thing. Well thanks again, and hmmm. . . where are them M3's at??? Latez!

seems like you would have to a longer run to beat the off the line torque of the M3... the typical 1 block long stop light to stoplight race will not be the S's strength... that are really nail the 1-2 upshift!!(after a decent launch!!)
