Default Launching properly?

I've read through other threads but couldnt really find what i needed to know, but then again i didnt check throughly. Anyways, I need to know about how much your rev your engine and how fast you drop your clutch because for some reason when i launch i dont even spin wheels and i smell my clutch. Is it because i'm riding my clutch too much and i'm not letting it out fast enough?how much should i rev and how fast should i let the clutch go? I can chirp at 2nd geat but never at first. Also, my sister learned manual on my car and I think I need a new clutch. Any suggestions as to what kind of clutch I need to get? thanks a lot.

Your sister didn't mess the clutch up. When launching, you should just completely take your foot off the clutch so it pops up. Aim for 6500. Letting it out just quickly is what ruined your clutch. I am surprised you can still chirp 2nd. I like ACT.

try side-stepping it.. which is basically putting the edge of your foot on the clutch, then moving it left so the pedal just pops strait up. problem is one of those rubber bumps might pop off-- happened to me. i tried just pulling my foot up and the same thing happened to me, no spinning just a smelly clutch!

disclaimer: Doin this is fun as hell, but as a friendly fellow owner, please don't do it too often. it WILL mess the car up. You don't want to pay for repairs.

yup, rev to a little over 6K, and pop the clutch. Either side step it or release it is fast as you can. You should get a little spinning or chirp, and then take off. If you bog (ouchie), rev higher. If you spin too long, rev lower, but be careful that you aren't spinning b/c of old tires, cold tires, etc.

be careful and have fun

I've found that 6200 is a good launch RPM.. pulling my foot off the clutch as fast as I can.. get great wheel spin, engine goes down to about 4500 rpm(I think) and climbs back up the rpm range till I shift at 9100(or 2nd blink of the redline) I get a good chirp out of the 1st to 2nd shift when I do that also..

Your tires will spin. Don't go WOT until you get traction and don't shift until the red light flashes.
