Default Le Mans Now Available On DVD

One of the two greatest movies about racing ever made about racing, Le Mans, featuring Steve McQueen is now available on DVD. This is a MUST have for any racing fan.

I've never seen "Le Mans". Is it worth buying? I'm sure its not as good as "Gran Prix".

Ralper: If you're over 40 PLEASE buy it, you will not regret it.
Just an opinion, but to me, Lemans is more inspiring than Grand Prix.
Both are films about racing when racing was a pure, uncontaminated sport with ridiculosuly low safety standards and drivers whose main motivation was truly the joy of driving and competition.
The sounds of those engines (In Lemans movie) still raise hairs in my back and the actual racing sequences are awesome.
One of my childhood racing idols was Pedro Rodriguez (I'm originally from Mexico guys) who tried several times and eventually won the race (In a Ford GT 40? please correct me on this one you armchair race historians) he had tried on Ferraris before and eventually was killed in a Porsche a few years later, as had his brother, Ricardo, before him....
No other era of racing is more romantic to me than those years. The Carrera Panamericana, Targa Florio, Lemans....
So go get the movie (make sure you have nice speakers) If you like the sound of Porsche engines, you are going to LOVE this movie.
Bieg: I enjoy your posts on the S2000....A LOT
Take care guys,
Daniel

I was lucky enough to see the Gulf 917 when it was auctioned off during the Pebble Beach weekend several years back - what a great car!

I'm headed to LeMans this year! Can't wait!
