Default Leaky Tranny.

Today while backing out of the driveway i noticed a small pool of 10-15 droplets worth of oil in my garage. So i backed my car out stopped and took a look underneath. There was a bit of oil around underneath the transmission case, it was about to drip down. So i get to work and check and a another drop is still there. By the end of the day there are a few more droplets of oil. When i got home i jacked up the car as high as i could and crawled underneath. I didnt find any big dents or any signs of stress like that. The leaks must have been pretty recent as i dont notice very much oil pools on the floor.

I dont recall hitting anything hard and the last time i had anything done to my transmission was when i went to get the 2nd gear replaced way back in 11/05.

Any thoughts on what it might be? Perhaps some bolt got loose? Leaky seals? I'm thinking about going to the dealer tomorrow to have it checked out but everytime i go in my car always has some sort of problem while being serviced.

1st trip was a simple 8 hour 2nd gear synchro. Well the tech some how pokes a hole in my tranny and my car needs a new casing.

2nd. Simple replacing of windshield molding. Well glass comes back cracked.

Anyone know a good dealership in San Diego?

Have you checked the drain plug? Maybe all it needs is tightening or a new crush washer.

stick a paper bag under the car while its parked, then crawl under and lineup the drip mark to the corresponding location on the tranny. I think the most logical place would be the drain bolt.

i doubt its the drain bolt if its leaking when the car is stationary. The transmission fluid should be filled until it starts to drip out of the fill hole, which should be the top of the fluid. Unless the fluid can run uphill, chances are its not coming from that. Check to see if its dripping onto the transmission from somewhere else, and following the transmission til it drips.

Who said anything about it leaking from the fill hole? Drain...you know, the one on the bottom where gravity will pull the fluid out of the seal isn't tight?

I found the answer. I went into the dealership this morning at Pacific Honda. Dropped off the car and told them about my prior TSB 2nd gear poping out i had fixed at Norm Reeves Honda Huntington beach. Well turns out that Norm Reeves left out a few extra bolts here and there and now have to authorize Pacific Honda to fix my tranny. I asked the Service manager to give me an extended warranty for all my troubles. This is the second screw up on that dealerships part's and service department. The first time when i took my car in for The TSB they accidentally put a hole into the transmission case when they had it on a lift. Now i learn that when they fixed that problem they did such a sloppy job that they forgot to replace all the bolts and washers. thats pathetic.

If they dont give me an extended warranty what steps should I take?

Help me out fellow S2k brothers!

Wow, that's some serious incompetence. I would call Honda. Make sure they know what's going on in case you have more transmission problems in the future. Having the dealer where your car is at now call probably wouldn't hurt either. It might help to have a dealer go on the record how poorly the transmission was repaired.
