Lease people
I just bought my S a couple weeks ago... and it seems clean. But the carfax showed it was a lease return. I don't know why but it's kinda freaking me out now. Like it was a "rental" car. And we all know how people treat rental cars.
So tell me... how do you treat your leased S2000. Honestly. Did you break it in right? Do you change the fluids regularly? As you get closer to the return date do you rag the clutch out, smoke the tires, etc?

I treat my car like gold. I do the maintenance and broke it in properly. I do drive it hard and VTEC many times daily..but that is just how i drive. You should of seen the accord I turned in before I got the S. It was in MINT condition...they could of drove it back in the showroom and sold it on the spot.
I've treated all leased vehicles like I owned them. About 1/2 the time, I end up buying the car at the end so it makes sense to take care of it. If there is any obvious damage, you pay for it when you return, so people will most likely take care of the thing. Or if there was damage it should've been fixed before being resold.
My current my04 is leased and I broke it in best I could and will continue to baby it for the 4 years I'm "renting" it. If it holds up well, I'll buy it.
Enjoy the new car!

my RSX is a lease, i treat her like a princess. i broke her in correctly for the first 600mi, i take 2hours to wash her, take her every 5,000mi (5k is recommended by honda for the RSX, unless in extreme conditions) for an oil change at my Acura Dealership, i feed her Mobil 93 when she only needs 87, purposely dont use headlights during the day to prolong the bulb life, park her far away from other cars to reduce the risk of door dings.
of course i vtec her a lot (tho for my car thats 2200rpms, but i mean opening the 1st intake at 4400rpms+), ive spun the tires in my time, took a BMW driving course in which i powerslid her, autox, abs braking, etc. ive replaced the front tires w/ equivalent/better tires than stock, and shes got 36,000mi on her and the 39m lease ends in December.
so yes its very possible to get an off lease car that was treated like one of the family. Hell i lock her when shes in my garage and i live in a suburban town in Westchester County, NY (3rd richest in the nation lol).

Mine is a lease and I treat it like fine fragile china. I am sure the story of people abusing leases is true, but any true car enthusiast will treat their car like gold whether it is a purchase or a lease.

If mine was leased I'd drive it like I stole it. That doesn't mean I wouldn't take care of it though...preventive maintainance, general care and wash, etc....It just means I wouldn't think too much of doing 6K clutch drops and the like. It's going to depend on the person though, my father's S is leased and that thing is babied like you would not believe. Never a spec of dirt to be found on it and the car doesn't even know what rain is. I'd be willing to venture a guess that's it's seen it's 9,000rpm redline more with me behind the wheel than him. It's the only stock S2K I've seen that I'm actually envious of, GPW looks amazing the way he takes care of it. If he doesn't buy it out at the end of the lease someone will get an awesome machine.
