leaving the cabin air filter out?
obviously i have my windows / top down a lot i dont really care that my vents are blowing a little dust but, I noticed with it out my fan is a lot more powerful I dont want to overload it or have water get in the cabin though. anyone try this?
I'd put it back on. You'll have dust particulate blowing in your mouth, nose, and eyes. I'm pretty sensitive to these things so it would matter to me. Though I always have the hardtop on so I may not be a good meter stick.
you will flow more air with the filter missing, simple air flow principles. I would still run the filter to keep the system clean, primarily the blower which would be coated with more dirt if operated without a filter. Not sure about the heat exchanger core but I would think it would stay cleaner as well with a filter in place.

The S2000's filter is in a position that if left uninstalled would allow all sorts of leaves, dust, and debis to enter the blower motor directly and cause lots of noise if not early failure.
Older cars which didnt have cabin air filters were designed with that in mind. So leaves etc are not as much of a concern.

But, after all, why wouldn't you want all that dust, grit, and crap in your heater core, your blower, your nose, your throat, your lungs? Just suck it up and grind your teeth on the grit. Are we men or are we mice? If it doesn't kill you it makes you stronger.
