Default Leaving car for 2 months

Going to be leaving the car for 2 months because I'm going on vacation. Just wondering what I need to do to make sure there aren't any issues when I come back. I tried searching, but search isn't working for me atm. I have my dad to start the car once a week, so if he does that... Is there anything else I'll be needing to do? Thanks.

Uh...I wouldn't start your car once a week and not drive it. It does more harm than good. Different story if your dad drives it once a week though (if he does, make sure to reach normal operating temp).

If you're going to let it sit, you may want to put your car on jack stands (to save your tires) and disconnect your battery ground cable (make sure you have your radio code). I've seen where others say to unlatch the soft top (releive pressure on the top) but I'm not sure if that's needed b/c I keep my top up in the winter for 3+ months.

Any reason why starting the car and letting it sit for about 5 minutes would do more harm than good? Not being ignorant, just curious as to why it would be.

Thanks for the feedback.

I may ask my dad to drive it around when he gets the opportunity...

I dont think two months is a long enough period of time to really worry about anything. the car should be fine. You dont really have to start it once a week. I have read that once a month is all you need.

Top up the gas and pull it into the garage and put your cover on it.

You might want to stuff the airbox with steelwool or a rag so you don't have mice or snakes making a home

Many people in the cold climate store their cars for the winter, myself included, for much longer periods without problems.

In terms of starting weekly, the engine would be 'dry' after sitting for a week. You are going to start it and the oil will need to be circulated. You can do it 8 times (once a week for two months) or once when you get back. I would do it only once. Although I don't think weekly is going to kill the engine.

you get water/condensation in the exhaust system. if you dont get everything hot enough to dry off the water, it'll just pool at the bottom of the mufflers/pipes and eventually rust.

I need to do the same, for 2.5 months this summer. Should I over-inflate the tires?

Bring it to my house. I'll take care of it for you.
