Default leaving car in the rain????

I was at a friends house today and it starting pooring really hard outside. All I could think about is how my top is going to leak with so much water hitting it. Was I stupid to be worrying about this????

We have had a couple of rainstorms like that here in WA even while I'm driving. No leakage at all. Its actually kind of cool putting your hand to the roof and feeling the rain hit your top. I usually just wait until the rain slows down, no way I'm gonna open my door and let those huge fast drops hit the inside of my door panel and seats etc. There was a thread about some guys speaker grills bubbling and water coming out of it? Not sure if that was related to hard rain.

On the other hand I had a 300zxTT which even in the lightest rains would leak like no other from the top of drivers side window rubber. I would have to put a towel on the window door panel where it would drip off at.

Well, water coming out of the speaker grill has to do with the holes in the bottom of the door being plugged up and water not being able to flow out of the door.

because water does get in there from the window...then it slides down past the rubber...and if it has no where to go, the speaker grill is the next highest place.

My S is a daily driver and has been rained on many times . I have never had any leaking problems and the car is a blast to drive in the rain. Don't sweat it.

Keep the seals well treated, with Shin-Etsu grease or similar and you will most likely not have this problem.

My car (MY00), was developing a leak on the passenger's side from the top/front part of the window wher the A-pillar/roof/window all come together. That seams to be the location to watch. After treating with the grease, it is much better.

i dont think its really anything to worry about... unless you have a hole in your top
but think of it this way.... your car is getting a bath in dirty water

I love driving mine in the rain too.... nothing like a wide open 4 lane road in a rainstorm!

Oh and the parking lot too! I find it very easy for me to control the fishtail/drift in the rain...

We had six inches of rain in two days last week. No problems whatsoever. Even the two wear holes in the top didn't leak, and I can see light through them. Actually I'm kinda glad we had that much rain. I like free car washes!
