There have been tons of discussions regarding how you are "supposed" to break in your s2000 engine, so i made this poll to show how most honda s2000 owners have breakn' in their engines.

Please this POLL is only for users that actually have breakn' in their own s2000 or know for a FACT how the previous owner drove the car. No guessing or people who "know" how to from som article or website.

Best Regards

why not just read and follow the recommendations in the owner's manual? I guess asking a bunch of people who had no input into the design of the engine is a better solution.

Follow the manual, they made the car so they will know alot more about it's design then we will, but thats just my opinion.

I'm not adding my opinion about break-in, but would add that the manual doesn't only address the concerns of engineers - it would have to get the thumbs up from marketing. If the engineers said " yep - best way to break it in is 3000 rpm for 32 minutes followed by 7000 rpm for 6 hours then change the oil and repeat five times" marketing would never go for it, they don't want the perception of a tweeky high-maintenance car nor possible customer error. Add the lawyers to the mix also and you're not 'allowed' to add a CAI etc.

I voted Other...

But I Broke it in hard....according to the Engineer @ honda who told me to do it. Who said you must run the engine hard to get everything to *seat* right. So I listened...Here is what he mapped out for me.

First 25miles drive it hard...
Next 50 drive it softly...
Next 75 miles, drive it hard in moderation...
Next 250 miles, no vtec, and drive it easy...
Next 200 miles, moderate driving...

Car has 4700 miles on it. Got it's first oil change with 3600 miles, burned a little bit of oil. Since the 3600 mile oil change the car has been on the track twice running 6, 20 minute lapping sessions each time and daily driven and has yet to burn oil.

Not trying to start a debate like the Thread starter suggested. I simply put what I did to break in my car.

Regards,
Luke

Sidenote: Also did this with my 2001 prelude, again, had that car for 45k miles, and ZERO issues, and it didn't burn any oil either...well until I put the JRSC on it, but that's a whole another issue!!!
