Default let's sum up the options available on the s2k for a newbie...

I am a long time fan of the s2k and am finally ready to graduate into one. I would like to investigate the used market, but am usure of which options and/or years I should be looking for... On thing that may make my decision easy is the color: I am absolutely set on getting, what I call, the S2000 silver (or is it grey) with the red interior. That looks just sick, and for me there's no other possible choice. Xenon lighting is also a must. So my question is, do these choices limit the years I should look at? Also, are there other options/packages that I should look for (or those I should stay away from...?) Thanks for the help.

For such a fan of the S2000, you appear to know nothing about it.

Well you only have two years to choose from 2000 and 2001. Not much changed from one year to the next. I think the 2001 models added the windscreen between the seats as standard equipment and you would have to worry less about the TSB's with a 2001. The Silverstone color is the only silver available in these two years but I think it was the most popular color in MY2000. Spa Yellow and Silverstone were the most popular in MY2001.

You should have no trouble finding a silver/red in either model year. If it is a MY2000 you might want to see if the required TSB's have been applied to the car.

The dark silver with the 2-tone red/black interior can be had in a 2000 model or a 2001 model in the US.
As far as packages are concerned for the most part there are none - we get one choice here. As far as options are concerned there are many, everything from floor mats to security systems to spoilers.
Good luck searching. Keep in mind you might want to contact a couple of Honda dealers and ask if they have any coming off a lease, this can be a great way to get a used car!
Have fun!

Since no one else has mentioned it, every S2000 has Xenon headlights.

thanks for your constructive replies to my questions. didn't want to waste everybody's time stating the obvious, but it is hard to find info on the previous models as honda would only post the specs (which I am already familiar with) for the 2002 model years on their official pages...

but I do know enough about the s2k to know that I want one. Anyway enough griping...

I'm looking at a couple MY2000 s2k's, and I am pretty sure I know what to look for, but just wanted to be sure there were no surprises...and it seems from the initial responses, there aren't.

One qusetion though Critchie...what is a TSB? and why would a 2001 be better for this...

I am also considering a hard top, so am not too concerned for the glass or vinyl window issue between the '02 and others. Is there any other major thing to look for in the used market?

Anybody know the specific differences between the Euro spec S2000's and the NA spec (If any?) I plan to import one from Germany to the states...advice appreciated...
