Default Lets talk brake pads....

Just wondering what brake pads you all have used because I am sick of cleaning my wheels all the time. IMO the OEM pads give off wayyyy too much dust.... whats out there that wont give off nearly as much? Thanks.

Ummm...the oem pads hardly dust at all. Have you owned the car since new? You may not have oem pads on the car if you are not the original owner.

The AP2 brake pads seem to dust like a mofo. My wheels on my AP1 are a hell of a lot cleaner than my gf's AP2. She may or may not have aftermarket pads but I doubt it...

The ap2 pads do dust way more. A solution is to use ap1 pads...but I'm curious about any aftermarket pads though.

Keep in mind that low dust pads usually have less stopping power as well.

Take a look at TireRack, they have a guide as to which pads have what characteristics: http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/results.jsp...07&autoModClar=

I purchased the car with only 4950 miles on it, and it was bone stock, so I'm assuming the pads are OEM.... the ap2 pads just seem to to dust up like crazy.

What are popular aftermarket pads?

I'm going to be putting a set of Akebono pads on my car next month. I'm sick of cleaning my wheels twice a week. I switched to Akebono on the last car I owned, and they stopped as well as the OEM pads.

As stated before, good performing brakes usually produce more dust. You think the S dusts up, try BMWs.

I had some PFC Carbon Metallics on my old M3 and the dust they produced was so minimal that it just required a spray down with a hose and they were clean. These were my street/track pads as well.

I've always run the hawk hps and they don't seem to dust too bad.
