License Plate Mounting
Hey all you California drivers out there. I moved out to Cali from Michigan 6months ago and thought this would be the perfect place to drive an S2000. My question is...
Has anyone found a "good" spot to mount the required front license plate? I think it looks pretty tacky mounted right on the nose but I am at a loss as to where to put it. In MI you don't need a front plate so I am just a bit disappointed that for some reason out here you do

The reason you need to mount a front plate out here is for all the red light cameras that various cities have put up.
I haven't really seen a creative solution to mounting the front plate. I just used the bracket that came with the car. I would've risked getting a ticket, but I had to drive in Culver City everyday and those cops give out tons of tickets for no front plate.

as implied above, it really depends on where you live. down in s. orange county, it's not common to get hassled for no front plates*. I've never had a front plate on any of my cars (been driving nearly 15 years in CA) and despite two accidents and a couple of speeding tickets, i've never gotten popped for not having a front plate.
*Caveat - If you have a huge wing, booming stereo, ground effects up the yazoo or are participating in a race and/or group drive with knuckleheads whose cars are like that then you might get a ticket. call attention to yourself and you'll get it. fly below the radar and all is good.

I posted this solution, which uses mostly stock parts. This can be modified slightly to increase airflow around plate and to center it (it's about 1/2 inch left of center, like my politics).

More power to those who have been lucky enough not to have been popped for no FLP.

I think the least we can do, and what I do, is mount the plate directly to the bumper, without the kludgy bracket. I put a strip of foam tape between the plate and the bumper to keep from scratching the paint.

Here's my solution - took a little improvising, but it's quite stable, even at high rates of speed and I don't think it interferes with air flow significantly:

Damn you guy's have got some large number plates there! Is there a lower profile alternative?
We've got ones of similar size down here but, we can also choose "premium plates" which are considerably thinner. Don't block any (if at all) of the air.
My sig has a clear pic of the front number plate (with the numbers removed ofcourse) that I have on. Rear plate is also the same size.
