I don't know if you have seen this video at the science of speed website, but I just came across it and thought I would share.

After all the talk about the handling of this car in the rain and the tire's lack of grip, this video struck a chord. It shows a driver on a track going into a corner pretty darn quickly and loosing it bigtime. Fortunately he just hit a bunch of tires along the side of the track.

So, how fast have you gone backwards while NOT in reverse?

Dambit. All the times I hear or see him say it. One member speaks about how he knows for a fact that ABS works in reverse.(at 50 MPH! )

I glanced down to check my speed just as I entered a turn and saw 9? just as the rear end let go. I am 99% sure the speed was 90 to 92 MPH because the tach flashed red in 3rd at the same time. This was also in a NCCC autoX on Kumho 712 street tires. I was looking for the tires limit, goofed and exceeded it by several mph and did a real fast 180. I never left the track, didn't DNF, and still posted a better lap time than many of the Vette's. Let me tell you, 90 mph backwards is a rush!

I've never understood why these drivers prefer to hit the curbs in this chicane, since it clearly launches the car's weight upward. It looks to me like the reason he skidded was because he took such a tight line in there. I guess its faster, but it seems pretty risky.

Is it me, or are you not supposed to jerk around the steering wheel as much as that guy was doing?

It definitely looks like he was trying to get into a drift. Does anyone know what he's saying? In the Best Motoring VCD's, whenever they're about to crash, the subtitles say "Danger! Dangerous!"
