Default that little plastic add on screen thing

Does that air screen thing between the seats really do anything at all besides cause everyone that sees it to say "What's that"? It makes it nearly impossible to clean the rear window, or get at anything you've put in the window well. I plan to take the thing off unless someone can tell me that it really has a purpose and actually does something. I'd like to keep everything stock, but it is soooo annoying. Why is it there....really?

Hey Woody,

The airscreen does make some difference in cabin air turbulence when at speed. You can fold it down towards the back whenever you put the top up to allow for better cleaning and vision. To see the difference, put it down and then drive on the highway.

HTH,

Kris

I've tried to fold it down, but only seems to move back to a 45 degree angle....and it seems so cheap and plastic like it'll break just doing that. Does it fold all the way flat????

Mine folds all the way flat. Me, I don't think it does a damn thing- at least it makes no discernable difference to me. Mine will be coming off shortly in favor of a camera mount.

It works, you'd to wise to leave it where it is.

I was told that on the 2000 model year the windscreen was an option and that Honda had customer concerns about the wind buffeting those cars were getting at high speeds. 2001 model year they were standard equipment.

For those who question its effectiveness try this - put your top down and with a passenger in the car, go down the highway (interstate) at 60+ mph and have the passenger lay the windscreen down. Notice the difference. Then have it put back in its upright position. You will notice a change.

I have a question for people out there. I went for a long drive in the mountains of Colorado last weekend (250 miles) with the top down. Last 70 miles were at interstate speeds coming home from Vail and I suddenly noticed that my right ear canal felt it was clogged (almost like it was filled with water). When I got home it took me over six hours to get rid of this feeling and be able to hear. Serious buzz also. I gather it was from wind buffeting but it only occurred in the right ear. ANYONE EXPERIENCE SIMILAR OCCURRANCE?

This has happened to me also......I am thinking it has to do with the wind noise in the cockpit....Can't be good for you, but I am having too much fun with the top down.....Did not take 6 hours to go away however.

It's supposed to reduce turbulence in the cabin, which it does, but only marginally. Mingster and I have designed different replacements/mods that improve its functionality a great deal. See our web sites for more info.

The stock windscreen only helps a little, but the larger ones offered by Rick (like I have) and Mingster do make a big difference. (Mingster's screen doesn't fold down; rick's requires that you start with the stock screen assembly and is available in two sizes--7/8 & full height.)

A worthwhile investment if you do any driving at higher speeds with the top down.

The stock windscreen isn't as effective as Rick's or Mingster's. I have the Mingster windscreen and it makes a huge difference in wind turbulence and cabin noise.
