Default Locked out of my trunk

So the other day, I was going to sell my CF trunk and was going to swap put for the stocky. Friend thought he was being nice and unhooked the wires from the 3rd brake light and the trunk release while I was getting the wrench and the stock trunk. Right when I was walking out with the stuff, saw him close the trunk. A "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU" kind of moment. The hole for the lock wasn't drilled and there was no was of opening the trunk from the inside. Contemplated just breaking the trunk, but got smart and crawled into the trunk by taking out the panel that holds the soft top. Thankfully Its not the glass rear so crawling wasn't too bad.

The lesson? Don't let friends close the trunk.

True story.
I locked my keys in my trunk twice in the past 3 months and my center console was locked.
Had to wait for my sister to come back from the beach so that I could get my extra set.
Wasted a day.
Gotta figure an easier way to get the trunk open without a key

Seems like hiding a secret button to trunk release somewhere in the cabin wouldn't be the worst idea Just makes it slightly less secure than only having it in the center console.

Better to be locked out of your trunk than in it.

A bit off topic, but...

Why is it that whenever I'm looking at new cars, the salesperson ALWAYS points out the glow-in-the-dark release lever on the inside of the trunk? I mean, I'd understand if the it were somewhat unique to the car, but it's been mandatory on all new cars for a while now.

The other day we drove the S to go look at a sedan to replace an aging Civic and the salesperson (again) showed us the interior trunk release. Pointing to the S I said, "Yeah, that car has one too, but I can't fit in that trunk."

And that's when you carefully point out the hot girl at the reception desk and correct yourself and say "But she can"
