locknut
If you remove the little locknut under the shift knob will the knob sit lower? I have the muz shift knob now but I think it sits a little high. I noticed the locknut but thought it was a needed piece. If you can remove it, how?, with a wrench? please let me know if it can be removed and if it will lower the height of the shifter- thanks
the skunk2 Jam nut only have two threads, you might can lower it a tad but that's all.
i think the oem jam nut are the same way.
if you want it to sit lower, just get a counter sunk knob, i brough one that threaded all the way to the top.
you can cut and rethread the oem shifter too, they sell dies in homedepot for like 15 bucks. some of your local S owner might have a set that you could use.

I have the muz countersunk shifter which is why I'm asking shouldn't it sit lower than the stock shift knob if you take out the locknut or does the locknut not make a difference in the height of the knob? That is all I wanted to know is will the knob sit any lower if you remove the locknut? I saw an older post which said it would but I want to see what others said before I take the locknut out.
