I will be picking my s2k up (hopefully) in February. I am going to be getting the s2k at msrp with a couple options (of my choosing). I think i'm going to go with the lojack, subwoofer and car cover but my question is this: what do you guys think of lojack? Is it worth it? I figured it would be worth more than a regular car alarm because those alarms are always going off, no one really pays attention to them and I feel they don't keep thieves from actually vandalizing/stealing your car. What are you guys' feelings on that?

I got the Lojack. I haven't had to use it so I don't have strong feelings either way but at least I'm taking what precautions I can to safeguard my S2K. By the way, I bought the Lojack at the dealer and then afterwards found out my Credit Union offers it for half the price so if you are a member of a Credit Union check to see if they can get you a discount.

The car I bought already had the factory alarm on it, which is not very good, particularly for a convertible. It has a shock sensor, but no motion or proximity sensor. In addition, in order for the hood release to be part of the alarm, you have to buy an additional hood switch.

Given that, I chose to buy a LoJack because if the car is stolen, I want to increase the chance that I'll get it back, particularly because I paid more than MSRP and because of the limited availability of the car.

Does it work? Is it worth it? I don't know and I hope I never find out.

LoJack is a forced option from my dealer. I'm not complaining however. In the event your car gets stolen the system should improve your chances of recovery. It is not a substitute for a good car alarm.

I was sweet-talked by the dealer into getting lojack. i found out later that there isn't even any Lojack coverage north of the location where the dealer is! If you're still thinking about it, check first what coverage there is in your area.

According to the LAPD, if you haven't reported the car stolen within 30 minutes, forget all about Lojack. The pros have probably stripped it by then. Secondly, thieves are going to have a hard time driving the car off anyway, because the chip in your key disarms the car's wiring, which is practically impossible to bypass quickly, or without a duplicate. Personally, I think Lojack is almost a waste of money. Better to spend money taking precautions to stop break-ins (or at least make it difficult for them). A motion alarm might be a cheap way to go - if you can stand the possibility of it going off accidentaly at 3:00 in the morning.

Mark in L.A. has a radar sensor which sits in the ashtray. You can adjust the arc and distance of sensing, so that it will set your horns blaring (if you've got Hellas!) if anyone just looks at your car (as I proved myself when I tried to get a better look inside his car. Nearly messed my pants up!) Amazing device that I'm thinking of getting.

When I got my S in March, the sales manager told me that all the S2000s to date (14) had gone out with Lojacks. If most of us have Lojacks (I would think) then the odds of getting caught stealing them increases and hopefully the word will get out to leave the S cars alone. My $.02

Sounds like a good idea until I check with my insurance company AAA and they said it would save me $1.00 per year. Sure you may get your car back but first they have to steal it. The S2K has a special key that's programmed into the ECU. The car won't start without the programmed keys. Yes they can tow your car away on a flat bed and you may never see it again. But hell that's why we pay for insurance. Remember this is a production car and it can be replaced.

I don't think it's worth it. I bought it for my wife's Odyssey. Then I get a letter stating that the initial purchase is good for two years!! If you want continued coverage beyond the two years you have to keep paying them!!

It was a forced option on the car.
Would I have asked for it? NO
