Long and Low
I'm talking about the bonnet fellas!
In the first week of having my S someone managed to reverse into it and ride up on the front bar, leaving a row of faint parallel scratches. And I'm frequently getting calls from the alarm company saying the bump detector has been triggered. My number plate cover was also cracked in the first month of ownership.
Today I was parked near the motor registry to pick up my new plates (SRS-02K). I'm crouched down at the rear of the vehicle to undo the rear plate, when 'crunch' and the S lurches towards me. Some troglodite in a Misubishi Magna has backed into my S. The corner of their bumber hit my number plate (the old one BTW). No real damage.
The driver said he couldn't see, and I told him if he can't see maybe he shouldn't drive. I also suggested he put a sparkler on the back of his car. He drives it like a bumper car, it may as well look like one!
Fact is, our bonnet is extremely long and extremely low and it's gunna get bashed (I dread tow bars). As a result I am not going to use my front bumper plugs, and I'm going to continue showing my front number plate. It at least absorbs some of the impact on most occasions.

I know this reply is kinda off topic to your post, but I'm curious you mentioned the fron t number plate plugs, where did you get them from ??, my dealer says he can't source them, do you have a part number or a dealer name I can try ???
Thanks
AlanG

AlanG, have you tried http://www.honda-accessories.com - they are one of s2000online's sponsors - the banner link is also below. Not sure if they can ship it to you, but you might be able to work out something.

Thanks for quick replies, I've checked out Honda-Accessories.com, they've got them, but it will cost me a fortune to ship Australia, that's why I was asking AusS2000 where he got his, because he lives in Sydney too. Hopefully he's found a Local Honda Dealer who has them.

Hello AusS2000,
Now that we are off-topic, may I please ask you to explain what you meant by 'getting calls from the alarm company...?'
There are definitely alarms for homes that are tied to security companies here in the States, but I've never heard of one for cars. The closest thing I know of for cars is the LoJack system; where a stolen car equipped with the LoJack transmitter can be located via satellite. How does your system work?
Thanks in advance.

AlanG - The car comes off the boat with a couple of plastic plugs in the number plate mounting holes in the front bumper. They are removed by the pre-delivery techs. My sales rep at Col Crawford had no idea what I was talking about, but he checked with the service centre and they had a couple. He posted them to me free of charge.
00SType - The alarm system in my car is called QuikTrak. It was developed here in Australia and is a radio based tracking and control system. If the alarm goes off QuikTrak are notified of the type of alarm and attempt to contact the owner via phone. If they can't contact you they can immobilised the vehicle and send a security guard out. They actually have an agreement with the Police so that if a vehicle alarm goes off but the thief overrides the normal immobiliser, they contact the Police and tell them where it is. When the Police report back to them that they are following it, they immobilise it. Fun stuff!

I NEVER park my S2000 in a spot where someone can park in front of me. I will walk a mile if I have to for a space where it is impossible for someone to park in front. First spot next to a fire hydrant, driveway side street, etc... are all good spots.
