Long term car storage

Has anyone ever considered shrink-wrapping a car like we do with boats in the off-season?
in theory it sounds like not a bad idea...
i would be putting a car cover on it first though to avoid scratches.
Good luck, and keep your eyes open for "Wepons of Mass Destruction". Bush said he was sure that there were some there, and it would be best if we found some. Even if we had to plant some anthrax in a dumpster, hint hint.
Something I might consider if I were going to store my car outside (or even inside) is a spray wax. Paste would also work but spray gets into all the little creveses that might be missed by paste.
I'd spray the entire car including windows ,wheels , tires and even the cloth top.
The car would have to be covered after applying the spray wax because the effects of the sun on the top that is covered with wax would probably be a negative and could lead to advanced deterioration.
You might have a hellava mess on your return trying to remove all this wax but every thing underneath should be as the day you left and what better way to spend your first day of return to the U.S. then the entire day cleaning your S.
The same would go for the leather inside.
Slather a heavy dose of mink or neatsfoot oil on seats and all other leather parts and a silicone treatment to all rubber hoses and parts including vinyl.
This is the stuff I'd do if I didn't know any better.
If anyone dissagrees with any or all of this, I would personally like to know and of course everyone else also needs to know.
BTW- Your time in Iraq will be a good time to pick up a little on Arab language. If Bin Laden is right, this is the language we will all be speaking at some point in the future.
Bless you and stay safe.

I am glad to see that you are confident in our failure.
The point was actually a warning and not an underestimation of confidence.
Europe seems to be in big trouble now and the same could happen in the U.S. if we don't perservere and hold our resolve to win this war.
One correction to my above post concerning the cloth top.
The correction- Vinyl top
For those who have a cloth top, I don't think I'd apply wax to it.
There is an unknown (to me anyway) of the reaction of cloth fibers to the oils in wax.
3M makes a product to weather proof cloth and this would probably be a better and safer product to use on cloth tops.

MRJJ:
I know what you said about strangers watching you car, but I will offer anyways. I am in Sylvania Ohio(just outside of Toledo). I have two three car garages that could house your car. I am very anal about my cars and would be with yours too.
Be safe
