450 Miles, around 7 hours to the Tail of the Dragon in 90 degree direct sun with the top down. Boy did my back get sweaty
The Dragon made it all worth it though; what a ride!

So that's how you have 350,000 miles!

I spent 18 months on the road living out of the trunk of my S (but not like a hobo), 18 states and 30,000 miles were covered. I wrote about it here:

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/s2000-ta...s2000-1191834/

Here are my top four long distance drives during that span:

4. Bozeman, MT to Salt Lake City, UT - 14 hours, 500+ miles, but I drove through Yellowstone (Old Faithful is actually always late), the Tetons and skirted the entire western side of Wyoming which are nothing but endless back roads surrounded by blue skies and golden fields of grass. No cars for miles around...triple digits all the way. I stopped multiple times for pictures and a breath of fresh air.
3. Black Hills, SD, 3 days approx. 1,500 miles. Black HIlls are amazing and I covered 90-95% of the roads up in there for three straight days.
2. Prescott, AZ (Granite Mountain) to Westwood / Santa Monica, CA and back - 404 miles one way and then back (another 404 miles)... in one day. This also included stopping at 5 different locations on the West Side of LA as I had to conduct some business like close a bank account/safety deposit box, see 2 doctors. Left at about 4 A.M. and returned around 1145 P.M. covering almost 900 miles in that time frame.

1. Prescott, AZ to Canton, MI - 1,973 miles, 31 hours straight driving... in the S2000, Aside from gas stops which one of those turned into an "hour" to sleep, and another 30 minute nap later on and a hot dog, I would say the S is not really easy to sleep in even when really tired. I took the southern route through Indiana so the drive was even longer, I was actually sore for 2-3 days after this but because I was in that sports car driving position for so long. I could have done it much faster but I had an AR and 9mm in the trunk so I kept it fairly 'reasonable'.

The best part was my wife allowed this all to happen and accompanying me for the trip on her birthday. What a trooper. We had a ton of fun though.
That’s awesome. My wife went with me to get mine but it was 80 miles haha. Every time I saw a good option far away she kept saying “maybe we should keep looking, there’s going to be another one pop up close”. Well, she was right haha. So you both had to fly up there too then?

the last stretch from New Orleans to DC we did in one day, which is the longest distance and time I've ever driven a car before in a day (my wife doesnt drive stick). This was all stock and surprisingly comfy, however my wife did comment that the exhaust tunnel on her side would heat up after a while.
yeah I’d like to figure out a way to deflect more hear out of the foot wells in the summer. I was surprised by that. Anyone have any luck with that?

Doesn't matter if your 20 or 65(like me) The S is a very fun and capable car for a road trip.
When you pick the right roads, you will find 8 to 10 hours in the S is not to bad. After food, potty breaks, pictures(at look outs) and a stop for a cold soda, hot coffee or glass of wine or a stop to just take in the view you will find the day goes by pretty quick.

Only thing I don't like in the S is the interstate, those are some of the worst roads to be on when driving an S. Have over 2 million miles on mostly interstates and I don't care to see any more of them. Thats why I pick all the roads we drive on, wife picks the destination and I find the route. Works great for us for over 40 years.

One more thing, you won't find to many(if any) that will say the S is a bad choice for a road trip. Test packing the trunk, we found that good duffel bags work best for us. We take along 17" laptop and a 12 can ice chest plus clothes and a little bit of snacks to munch on.

This is a great post - we are looking forward to fun trips like this definitely. Furthest I’ve gone so far is Charlotte for a concert but expect some weekend trips next spring. We’ve had the duffel bag conversation as I’ve tested 2 golf bags already which did not go as well as hoped. Haha. But he’s for a weekend at the beach we have these slim foldable beach chairs, a 6’ canopy, then our bags should all fit in the trunk. I even decided to get the alpine without CD player so I won’t have to store or fumble with cds on a road trip to save space.

We went to a wedding not far from us up in the country with some twisters and it was a lot of fun and Will hit the mountains for a Saturday or weekend trip as well. I’ve been saying for 2 years how I wanted to take my wife down the blue ridge parkway and when fall hit this year and I finally had the car, the schedule didn’t permit. Anyway, thanks for the comments it gives me more ideas.
