Default Looking for help w/ rear bumper missing piece.

Ok so today I’m going to drive the car and I got a “what the...” moment. There is a whole on the rear bumper, right above the license plate. Now, I’m no expert of S2000 (I got it a month ago) but I doubt Honda would leave a hole that shows the rear crash bar.
Can anybody please tell me what goes in there? Thank you in advance.

The black frame is for the license plate light......which appears to be missing.

Yes, the opening above the plate area is about 2" X the entire width of the plate.

Mine is open like that too and I have been wondering if there is a missing part also. We need some folks to look up in there and report back.

Like op said about 2 inches wide and runs the entire length of the license plate.

The hole is there by design although I can't guess for what other than the license plate light. Maybe the fuel vent?

,And it's not a bumper in any functional sense. It's a large, stylish, plastic cover for the back of the car. The steel and foam bumper is behind this non-structural part.

This is super weird but ok. I guess I’m relieved that the whole isn’t an issue with my car... although really Honda???

it makes access to the rear trunk vent easier...to run some sealant around it to keep my trunk from filling with water.
