Default Looking into an s2k

I have recently sold my car and i am in the market to get an s2k my price limit is unfortunately only about 9k. I found one for 8800 its an 02, silverstone with 118k. seems like a good deal IMO. although the modifications turn me away. never buy someone elses project - also.. no offence. but people who drive modified cars tend to abuse them more

with that being said, set your bar for an ap1 with 110k+ miles, with few mods

Just be patient and find the right one for you. I agree with sean2k, a modded car could have been run pretty rough. It sounds like they at leas put decent parts into the car so it might be just fine. There is a whole section devoted to what to look for when you buy a S2, give it a read and it will help you a bunch when you do a test drive, or take another person with you who knows more about the car.

I'd probably get a compression check done at the minimum for a modified, high-mileage car.

Not sure if you have another car or not, but if possible you may want to wait until winter to see if you can get the best value possible. Keep your eyes on Autotrader, Ebay, Craigslist and then just be ready to pounce as soon as you see a good deal.

Come to Kansas to get one! You can get a bone stock ap1 with like 80k miles for $9000. The cars do run forever though. It's a Honda man. I have a friend who has 150k miles on his 02 and he NEVER misses a track day. Nothing other than standard maintenance done on it. Just wait for the right one. I was in the market for 7 months before I got mine.

I was also 19 at the time, so I had very little patience.

dont let High mileage alone steer you away...

At the SCCA Solo (autox) national championships, in the STR class, the highest placing S2000 was an 00 with over 200k miles

worry about condition and price first... mileage should be a secondary concern

Mine has 120K, I wouldn't hesitate to drive it cross country tomorrow.

If I were you I wouldn't buy a modded car. There are plenty out there, find a stock one. Worry more about the condition than the miles. A new paint job will cost you more than a rebuilt motor. New leather will be more than a transmission.

Good luck.
