Default Looking to purchase/trade in the winter

Hi all, I've heard from pretty much everyone that RWD and convertibles are typically cheaper during the winter times (weather related I assume).

I'm just wondering how much of a discount should I expect come winter times? I am located in San Francisco, California, and I would prefer a trade-in with my 09 Mazdaspeed 3 (hopefully walk away with some cash in hands too).

I am also looking specifically an AP2, do you think an AP2 for ~12k would be doable come winter time?

Thanks!

Yeah, it's not like there's a drastic change in the winter for us. We'll get some rain, but that's about it.

I've seen as different as 3K (15~17%) difference in Chicago.

yup i agree with above statement.

when I spoke to a sales guy before, he says about the same ($2-3K difference) for convertibles during the different seasons...

Different seasons... Haha, not sure how much of that applies to San Francisco.

given the difference I think it's well worth it to buy a plane ticket and drive back.

There's a couple of threads on how far folks have gone to get their S2ks.

For example, when I got my '05, I found one I wanted in Cape Cod (i live in Ohio). I bought it and flew up there and drove it home. When I sold it (on eBay) a guy from NJ bought it-- he flew out here, I picked him up at the airport and he drove it home.

You should have a decent selection of S2ks to pick from in SF but it's not the case in some parts of the country.

There are a few good AP2 examples, but they're also asking for an arm or a leg!

Of the few bone stock "seemingly" unmolested S2000 I've found in the Bay Area, they're all asking for ~$18-21k , mileage ranges from 30k-70k.

That's why at the moment, I'll keep my eyes open, but I think I simply have to wait until the winter time for the prices to drop a bit.
