Looking at this S2000, is it worth it?
A dusty car (and mint, unmolested, underneath the dust) is much better than a shiny, washed, detailed, good smelling car (that's been repaired, repainted, brought back to stock after mods, etc.).
When I was shopping, I looked at a few S2ks that were washed, detailed, trying to make a mildly-repaired, repainted or previously-modded-and-converted-back-to-stock, car look shiny and nice again. Armor-All in the engine bay and interior and all! lol
Then I saw a diamond in the rough... MY03 GPW... pretty dusty, dirty, light paint scratches/imperfections. The guy was an office worker and didn't have much time to care for it. But, I could tell underneath all that dust/dirt/scratches was a gem - unmodified, unmolested, untampered, truly stock, garaged, etc.
Anyways... that thing looks great! If everything's mechanically sound and it looks good in person, I'd get it.
Top looks new (oem?).
Trunk looks oxidized... maybe from being an outdoor car, or maybe being overly polished/compounded (people tend to place bags on trunks... so maybe someone overly-compounded it to fix any scratches). Doubt it was from a rear collision, as the bumper would have the same oxidation/fading too. Anyways, easy fix... just get it resprayed by a good shop.

Not rushing you but be alert and hurry before somebody snatch it under your nose...
Looks like a good deal to me. If you can get a little bit off the price to cover the cost of changing all the fluids and either painting or polishing the trunk, that would sweeten things up. Do you know if the top replacement is OEM or aftermarket? Looks to be fairly new for the age of the car.
Not sure why you're waiting until Monday or what's wrong with this evening.
Don't lose the car for a few hundred dollars and showing up after the car is sold. If the car is a turkey you'll know when you examine it -- if it's still there.

You are in the Bay Area. I am east of Sacramento. I can tell you from personal experience that the used vehicle market can be very, very aggressive. These cars in this condition and price are not something you see everyday. I bet it will be sold by Saturday.
Hey all, I took your advice and asked him to see it this morning at 9:30, he agreed, but right after I told him I had two friends coming along, one to drive me and the other to help look at the car, he said that someone was coming at 6am to look at the car and he asked me "what do you think?", which was odd. I said if it doesn't get sold I'll come check it out. I text him at 7 in the morning and he says the guy is still on the way. So I tell him to text me if it gets sold, and it does. So that's the end of the story. The communication with this guy was very weird but I'm just assuming he was an old guy that doesn't message much online. But I appreciate all the help and advice from you guys, I'll just keep saving up for the right one.
