Default LOW ENGINE OIL

ok this morning i check the engine oil and its at the low level on the dips stick .......

i havent change the oil about 5k miles....i just havent had time to do the change oil...

anyway is it ok to just put an oil for the meantime....im doing the oil change this coming weekend...

oh another thing...i was at the honda dealer yesterday and i said i need oil change for my car and here i have a coupon for 21 dollars he said ok pull your car... and after i pulled the car... he said well you drive a sportscar... we have to put a special oil it will cost you 49 dollars plus the filter .. and he said the 21.95 coupon i have doesnt qualify for my car... cause its a sports car... i told him bull shi** .and left... i was going to talk to the manager but no one seems to be there.. so instead ill call honda customer service....

so anyways.... is it really 49 dollars... to just put a honda oil .. for my car... damn... putting syn oil is much cheaper...

You don't need a special oil. Our engines use regular 10W-30; some pick synthetic, some don't.

my2004 has never used oil, i change it @3-4k miles, myself...filters from the dealer about $5.00 each adn include the washer....rino ramps, a wrench for the bolt, costco bought chevron 10-30wt oil, buy 6 quarts and see how much you need after you fill with 5 quarts.

they thought they saw you coming with tha sports car bull/$49.00 special...good call on your part.

i have never brought my car to the dealer, 3 years and 26,000 miles later is still is a gem to drive and own...filters and fluids, and a set of tires.

jdmgpw,

I get a lot of joy out of doing this myself. It's not really that hard, and I'm not all that great with tools...

You can save quite a bit doing this yourself. Mobil 1 will cost you around $25 for a full fill! Oh, and you'll also want to get a Honda PCX filter. Don't use some cardboard piece of junk that you might get from a lube shop.

Well, they won't be using synthetic at that price, even if they do it.

Hey, your call, man. Enjoy!

If you don't want to change the oil yourself then take the car to someone you can trust, any place that charges more for your car than any other Honda is ripping you off.

As long as the oil level doesn't dip below the bottom X, you're fine. In the future though, I suggest you check your oil at least every 1000 miles. I will add oil whenever I get halfway down the line of Xs, so half quart low.
