Default Lowering

hey guys...im new to the forum and im in the process of buying my first s2000. I am going to lower the car and i want suggestions on the best springs or coilovers to get. Which springs out there lower the car the most and which coilovers are for the most extreme performance. This will be an everyday car but i only drive once a week becuase work is an 1/8 mile away so i dont drive haha.

Welcome, to the site.

You don't want to dump your car for many reasons (#1 giving up a bunch of the performance you paid for)... most like Espelir springs giving about a 1.3" drop. Spoon and Tein also offer springs for a more mild 1" drop (check website for exact number).

As for extreme performance coilovers your going to have to pay a fortune. I recommend reading in the "S2000 Racing and Competition" forum. Its hard to beat stock without spending a good sum of money.

^Yup. KW Variant 3s are probably the best bang for your buck suspension wise. The best coilovers out there will run you a little over $4,000.

I don't have anyhting bad to report about my tein s-techs.. The ride feels stock with a bit less body roll. I installed them with 72k miles and now have 111k miles and the shocks still work great. No bounce or float on the highway..

If you just want to lower your car for the "look" springs are what you need, it makes sense money wise. But if you want more track performance, then coil overs are the way to go. Lots of members on here are running lowering springs and have not had any problems with them. Just depends on what you want to do with the car.
I had S-techs and they were great, I wanted to upgrade to something better and got KW V3's and love this set up even more it allows for corner-balancing and more adjustability than springs and shocks do

If your goal is to increase the performance, then save your money. You need a lot more than $1600 to improve the suspension in an S. It's VERY good right out of the box.

Adding a front sway bar would improve the handling, as would a good alignment. You could do that for under $1600.
