what is "budget friendly"? A good set of springs will go much farther than a shitty set of coilovers.

A good set of springs is around $150-400. A shitty set of coilovers is usually around $800-1500. Coilovers have to be bought for the type of driving you will ACTUALLY do. Ricers buy "FULL RACE" coilovers for the street because "race" is the new "rice" in a lot of cases.

Are you lowering it just for looks? performance? You have to be more specific.

There is the Koni/GC setup which a lot of people like. That's around $900, IIRC.

If you're lowering just for looks and you want cheap, forget the coilovers. Buy either lowering springs that put the car where you want it or buy the Koni/GC setup...or buy Konis with your choice of lowering spring since the Konis have an adjustable perch.

Be more specific on your question.

I'm not looking for total performance. I'm just wanting a clean lowered look. Not ridiculously low but daily driver low. I was hesitant on this question becuase even though my main focus is looks, I don't want to suffer in performance.

what is your budget??

I'm leaning towards springs for you. GOOD coilovers are not usually something you buy on a tight budget. For a GOOD set of coilovers, you're looking $1500+.

Look into some quality, name brand springs. People like the Espelir ASDs a lot. I had skunk2s on my car for a couple of months just for the hell of it and they were actually pretty good. Swift is another great company. As long as you go with a good, established name brand, you dont really have to worry about quality. Just look at which drop works for you basically. Lowering springs usually ride very nice. So spring rate information is good to have...but the general rule of thumb is that they are going to ride just fine.

Stock shocks should also be fine for a long time depending on the previous condition of the shocks. They are "high performance" dampers...so just use them till they blow. Then buy something like Konis or whatever.

Cool. I was looking into Tein and I know(and I'm pretty sure that you know) that they are well established. There S. Tech Springs caught my eye. They said they will lower my S on stock shocks about 1.5". What is the "average" drop for most people on this forum? Will 1.5" really make a visual difference? And should I be worried about 17's" having any problems after this drop? Sorry ifthese are stupid a** questions but I'm a serious noob that is trying to get as much information as possible.

Tein S. Techs. About a 1 inch drop on stock shocks. Ride and handling quality is the same as stock IMO. Make sure you get an alignment after....

Ill give a nod to Espelir ASD. I got a used set for 100 shipped from the FS forum. About a 1.25" drop and it retains just about 100% oem comfort and ride quality. Go with springs in your case; if you went the coil route, youll just be pissing away money.

Espelir's lower more than 1". And yes, it makes a world of difference.
