I was bored sitting in a parking lot when I started looking up LS swapped S’s. (Say that 3 times fast). Depending on how much it would cost to rebuild the F if I ever blow it, I might consider LS power.

The Superman S is a solid touch

While the LS is a pretty light engine, I do not believe you will get it sitting behind the front axle line like the F series, which means it moves the weight distribution further forward. I have never seen one corner balanced or weighed to see how much, but that affects the balance and handling of the car which is a hard no for me. I guess if someone were drag racing only or just doing it for a street car but this in one application I would not jump to an LS swap for personally. Our car is a front mid engine layout (engine is fully between the axles/behind the front axle line) and that is what keeps it as balanced as it is

I'm always curious to see a LS S2k on the scales and see what the overall weight/distribution of it is. There's a really nice iron block LS, BMW DCT, 8.8 rear end swap in the builds section on here that hasn't been updated in a while. Hoping to see some action from that car and maybe scales/weights at some point.

I'd want to see the weights on an AL block, T56 or similar, and 8.8 rear end installed. The J series always looked really good in the S engine bay. Does that sit fully behind the front axles?

V6 appears to fit well, V8 I'm not sure of. That led me to think of the best V6 I could think of which would be the GTR's VR38DETT. If I ever win the lottery, maybe I'd try something stupid like that. Turbo plumbing does end up adding weight in the front end anyways though.

my primary is to get another 100k miles out of my F20 but if it goes, I’d like to have a “next” plan

@Luder94 did an LS swap and has since swapped back.

Still a good chunk of that LS3 in front of the towers. Hard to say how it aligns with the axle line too from that angle. But I cannot see an LS3 not adding to the front weigh bias a good amount.

An LS1 is a good 9 inches longer than an F20C I believe. So at minimum going to shift some weight that much further forward. And accessory placement and size could add to that as well. The LS1 is also about 4 inches taller, placing weight a tad higher unless you can get it lower in the frame somehow and given the oil capacity that may be tough.

Interesting comparison for sure but I bet some others can provide detail on how they did it and the outcome.

If this car was not so well balanced and relatively light to start with it would be one thing, or if I just wanted something to drag race. But if I wanted a cost effective drag racer I would go buy a Fox body and dump an LS into it and call it a day :p But at least for my usage the LS is not that appealing to me on our car. I am still interested though to see what others that have done it think about it and how they used the car after. So maybe if we keep blabbing about it they will see the thread!
