Classic carrier--www.classic-carrier.nl--shows a detachable luggage rack for S2k as being under construction. I emailed them and they said they were already available in Europe and first shipment to US was on the way to their store in Seattle. Web page says price is $289 USD plus shipping. Anybody have any other info?

If you can find out where their store is in Seattle, I'll go check 'em out and get some digital pictures.

Yes, the trunk. Ted, that would be great if you could check them out. Don't know address but phone is 425-822-3814. I just talked to them and they expect shipment in about 2 weeks, however the same basic design is used for all cars, Miata, Z3, Boxster, etc. so if you could take a look and tell me what you think that would be great. Would really appreciate it.

OK, just got off the phone; they said they'll give me a call when they get them in. I'll stop by then and get some pictures.

I've been to a website which has the removable (chrome) luggage rack for the S2K, similar to one shown for Miatas at Moss Motors: http://store.yahoo.com/mossmotors/road-trip.html Unfortunately I can't recall which accessory store had them - but I know these racks are available for the S2K.

(I notice that Moss Motors also stock the trunk bags made by Atlantic Design that you were enquiring about in your other post.)

The removable luggage rack from Moss motors looks great! I would definetly be interested in buying one. Does anyone know if there is going to be a group buy on an item like this?

The rack on my '62 Austin Healy 3000 looked fantastic -- really classic roadster. And I made a number of trips in which it was extremely valuable: It carried a "grip" (i.e. small suitcase) for long road trips; a case of beer (returnable longnecks, of course) for short trips (4.0 miles round trip to the liquor store in Champaign/Urbana) back in the '70s.

But coming home from Asheville last week I saw a Myata with a rack that looked terrible. It was smaller in length and width and much higher off the trunk lid.

If the racks being marketed for the S2K are of the latter design, IMO it's a mistake.

It noticed the removable rack on the Moss Motors site is completely different from the permanently installed racks I referred to in my previous reply. Would have to see in real life to judge.

Does anyone know how much weight the trunk lid can safely bear? (This is important either for considering a luggage rack and for installing a functional spoiler.)
