Default Magazine dynoed Comptech Filter and Exhaust

This is off of the Import Tuner magazine, August issue pages 70-74.

Here's the Data:
Baseline Power: 198.9hp, 133.4lb-ft
Comptech Filter: 201.6hp, 134.4lb-ft (+2.7hp, +1lb-ft)
" " Exhaust: 203.2hp, 136.8lb-ft (+1.6hp, +2.4lb-ft)

Msrp Package price for the filter and the exhaust=$1260($69+$1190)
Total gains 4.3hp, 3.4lb-ft.

They also did a run with the airbox cover OFF(exhaust+open filter). The final hp is 205.9hp (+7hp), and 137.9lb-ft(+4.5lb-ft).

They didn't mention conditions of the test (humidity/temp ect...). They also didn't mention of using a *fan* for the open airbox cover test. But from what I saw in the pic, they have a BIG FAN in front of the car.
Nick...

I don't know about that. It sounds kinda fishy because of their dyno with the airbox cover off. I guess when you are still on a dyno it doesn't make much of a difference. But on the street, I can tell the car is much slower with the cover off. I tan my car at the 1/4 mile and it was about .5 slower with the cover off.

Testing with the airbox cover off can show higher numbers, until the cooling fans kick on, then you're screwed.

The import tuner piece was one of the most misinformed writeups I've seen yet on S2000 performance. Their information was so bad it was ridiculous - the guy who wrote clearly didn't know much about the car. See how many errors you can find.

Reason that it dyno'ed higher with the airbox cover off is because the hood was up so it didn't trap all of that heat in the engine compartment. Not to mention it had all the air it wanted. Expecially if done on a cold day this would show a big gain over stock w/airbox on!
