By chance what type of similar system did you purchase was it a spugen or the Magnaflow?

Check out the Borla exhaust. Along with the fuj and supersprints. They should be about what you're looking for.

I have a Borla on my CRX-SIR, I looked at them when I was ready to do the S. I just thought the Spugen system was a better setup because there are no muffler clamps like this.

The Team Spugen is a complete bolt on system, no pain in the butt alignment issues.

Is the Spugen Dual Oval resonated? I'm very interested in it but search brings up people with droning issues at 3-4k

Resonated? Yes I am sure it can be.

Really all exhausts are going to drone in one way or the other. The Honda OEM exhaust is not just resonated, but tuned too. That is what the dead end pipe is for. The Magnaflow manufactured system also has this type of tuning.

Having owned a Magnaflow system from a few years now, I can tell you it does not drone at all. Everything else I ever installed did. Amuse Ti Dual (Resonated), Spugen Single (Resonated), Neuspeed Dual (Resonated). As well as all of the ones I have driven. That list is long.

HOPE THIS HELPS I PURCHASED THE MAGNAFLOW FOR MY MY07 AND IT FIT BUT WAS A PAIN IN THE ASS TO ALIGN! FINALLY BROUGHT IT TO A LOCAL MUFFLER GUY WHO HAD TO HEAT IT TO GET IT TO LIGN UP PROPERLY. THE SOUND IS GREAT BUT IF YOU HAVE THE MONEY GO WITH SPUGEN I HAD THAT SYSTEM ON MY MY02 AND IT WAS A FANTASTIC SYSTEM AND FIT PERFECTLY AND INSTALL WAS A BREEZE. GOOD LUCK.

Spugen has a resonator right after the cat.
As far as I'm concerned I have no drone, the system has a lot of tone, but when I think of drone I think of Invidia which is just downright miserable at 4,000 ish.

Like you, I have had the car for 6+ years. I have had more than one over the past years. Today, I am stock. The last system on the Car was made by Magnaflow. The only reason it is off the car, is I needed to install a trailer hitch. I changed is a few weeks ago. It is will on the garage floor.

I would agree on Drone on the Invidia. Nothing drones as bad as that one does. But it not just drone, it is also tone. The Invidia drone at a level and at just the right tone to rattle the car. The Spugens I have driven do drone, just not as bad and most of the other. Hell even the Nuespeed droned, it was just at such a low volume level that is sounded good.

magnaflow is what buschur use to use on their exhaust for evo's. I had it, it was probably the most perfect exhaust/muffler that I've ever owned. It was mellow and stock sound at idle but once you get on it, you'll hear it.
