Default maint req'd flashes at startup?

hey all...so i was driving my '03 from rochester ny when something funky started happening. I was going up a hill with cruie on and all of a sudden the "mant req'd" light start flashing for about 10 seconds and then goes out.

no problems during the trip, but i noticed later that when i start the car now, it seems to do this for the first ten seconds after the engine whirrs to life.

anybody else seem this...should i go get this checked out??

how many miles do you have on the car? it could be flashing because you need to change your oil...

i think the light is scheduled to come on at 6k for an oil change. if you've already had your oil changed then you don't have to worry about the maintenance light. just remember when you need to do your next change and you can turn the maintenance light off...

okay...as long as its not a big deal thats cool. its flashes though, doesnt stay solid and i had thought that meant a "do not drive" issue, hence my concern

the "do not drive" light would be the "check engine light." if you see that light come on you should definitely have things checked out.
