Is maintaining a S2000 the same like an Accord?

Default Is maintaining a S2000 the same like an Accord?

My family has two Accords (2004 and 2005) and all we've done maintenance wise has been oil changes, brakes, battery, filters for the last 70k. We're probably looking at shocks and spark plug changes coming up too. Just wondering if an S2000 is about the same, or is theres more to it.

pretty much like any Honda in terms of maintenance. The s2k has a rear diff to add into the maintenance mix, and many people seem to change the tranny fluid on a frequent basis. The timing chain is metal and doesn't get changed like the old timing belts did in the past. Valve clearance adjustments are similar to other Honda engines but not required that often.

Also, tires are more expensive and need replacement a lot sooner.

Overall the car is very reliable. Just take care of it and it will take care of you. I think there is a thread on here which shows the required maintenence for the life of the vehicle. It's nothing special. The biggest thing in my opinion is getting a valve adjustment. Other than that it's just basic air filter/oil change/tranny/diff fluid.

The oil filter in an S2000 is much easier to get to and almost no mess compared to the Accord.

If you drive it like an Accord, you'll have Accord-like maintenance requirements.

It's only if you get into autocrosses and track days that you'll start having different issues to deal with, due to the heat and g-forces. (Wheel bearings, cracked suspension bushings, torn brake piston boots, etc.)
