I recently hit 7,500 miles in my 2000 Silver/Red and the "Maint Req" light came on (presumably to let me know of my first oil change, which was done months ago). I can't figure out how to turn the damn thing off - I've followed the manual's instructions but it doesn't work. Has anyone else has this problem?

The manual is incorrect (on purpose?) see..

Ok, I'm really not an idiot, but I tried resetting the indicator the way mentioned above and it's still on. I put the key in, pressed and held the reset, and while continuing to hold it in, turned the key to the next position, then to the final position and continued to hold it a while, but it never went off. Maybe I should just take the bulb out?

Try holding it down a bit longer after you turn the key all the way on. It does work.

OK...got it. I started pressing the button in the middle key position rather than the LOCK position.

Thanks!

when it goes on, how does it act? Lately, when I turn on my s2k, it flashes for a fair bit of time longer than the other indicators. Is this a normal pattern I'm just noticing now, or something that needs to be looked at?

RacerX,

At approximately 6k it will start doing that and then at 7500 it stays on until you reset it, presumably after doing an oil change.

If you don't want to wait, you can reset it when it starts to flash.

The link posted by cdelena does not work. What is the proper procedure for turning off the maintenance indicator?

Thanks
