What is a TSB? Suggested fixes/recalls? Where is the list?

See this thread. it seems that AHM knows that there is a problem here, and it is not to be blamed on how someone drives - unless you call shifting a sports car quickly "abnormal driving".

I think DallasEngineer deserves an apology

I agree. I am on my 'second' repair... the first repair left the transmission in not 'repaired' shape...but they sent it home with me while they ordered more parts...which lead to major problems, and ultimately the new transmission. HMA zone is responsible for that...not Honda across the pond.

Also, the 'fix' should not be to have to purchase an after-market part. My car is supposed to be ready today... new tranny installed. We shall see.

I considered contacting Dallas Engineer about the class action suit, and still may - depending on how the car is this time. (I think this starts the fourth week...without my car for this repair. Last one was 15 days....)

Have had 2001 #6518 in service for awhile. None of the 12 or so problems of the S2000 mentioned in this site have appeared in my car, yet anyway. I drive it relatively hard. My car seems very sound and has the best gearbox I've ever used in any vehicle.

It's a valuable bulletin board; I'm glad to be aboard. I'll report anything unusual.

BTW, do Railroad Engineers count as engineers? What about guys who drive fire trucks? They're called "engineers" too.

Later,

Bob

Those of you that have mentioned the grind problem at elevated ambient temps, yet not at lower temps. might be on to something. We may need a new thread to work through it, but lets give it a go. First, how hard is it to drop a thermocouple into the tranny to get internal temps? Second, if we knew the relationship between the outside temp. and tranny temp. we could see if there is a common threshold for the onset of the problem. Then possibly there are a couple of expermential steps that could be taken. This may be a bit over the top, but what would it take to add a tranny lube cooler to this car? Could we assume that this problem does exist in all S2K's and that for whatever reason that temp. threshold for the onset of the problem has not been meet by all cars? Maybe the expansion of the internal parts is not uniform. This would allow for changing tolerances as the internal temps. increase. Could something as simple as a different spec. gear lube have a positive impact? What do you think? Help me out here.

You guys are all making me nervous. I bought my 2000 s2000 in 11/99 and it's production #1227. While I don't use my car as my daily driver I do drive it hard. I've auto-crossed it several times, and tracked it hard 5 times, and have absolutely none of the problems listed. No 1-2 grind, no clutch slipage, no abnormal deceleration noises.

I have looked at the TSB's but figure if I am not having a problem I don't want to take the chance that some mechanic isn't going to get my clutch or transmission back together right.

If I had all the problems that some of you have had I'd be upset also, but there are lots of out here who have had no problems.

By all means, if it's not broke...don't fix it.
Just enjoy the car.
