Default Mallet

I've been having some issues removing some bolts so I'm going to give this method a try. What mallets do you guys use?

re think the air gun:
-get a new sharp socket that fits on the fastener tight
-dont use any extensions
-get a bigger air gun
-spray a penetrating oil overnight:

when replacing use new fasteners w/ anti seize compound in the threads

My apologies nastinupe1. If I remember correctly, there should be a thread (approximately one month old) with links to some of the funniest threads on the forum.

Sorry what's an air gun? The bolt in particular is the filler bolt on the differential. The previous owner never changed the fluid after 45k miles so the bolt is clamped on solid at the moment.

If it still has fluid in it, stop screwing around and take it to a shop. Otherwise, what is the mallett for? You can usually put the box end of a wrench on a hex bolt and tap the other end with a hammer to break a bolt loose. Is that what we're talking about?

If we're talking about hitting the bolt itself, you'll need a brass mallett, check at you're nearest hardware store.
