Thumbs up In the market for a S2000

I'm in the market for a used S2000. I have done some reading on this site and decided I want an 02 or 03. I like the interior updates and of course the glass rear window.

I have never owned a convertible, but I have had several Hondas over the years. They have always been wonderful cars, very reliable and fun to drive.

I have also noticed not many folks seem to use their S2K as a daily, why is that? I would be using this as my everyday car, racking up 15K miles a year. Are these just as realible as other Honda models? Do they require any additional maintenace? If so, what?

This also means I will be driving it in the winter. Granted I live in Texas so no snow or anything like that, but we do have some cold mornings. Any issues here?

One other question, any issue getting 150K+ out of these cars with proper maintenance?

Any other info that will help out a newbie is grealty appreciated. Looking forward to driving this incredibly cool car.

Thanks,
Andy

I daily drove mine for about a year before i started to use another car. The car has no problems being a daily driver and as long as you keep maintenace up you will not have any issues. For the cold mornings, just dont drive crazy and wait for the car/tires to warm up before taking any turn aggressively

There are many people that use their S as a daily driver. Like any car, proper maintanance is a must. If you want to stay with OEM tires, going with SO3's as oppose to SO2's may be a good idea due to rain. Some people have gone to other models of tires since they felt even the SO3's weren't good enough in the rain. Some have stayed with SO3's and even SO2's. It's a matter of personal preferance.

I agree with the above statement about letting the car warm up before VTECing or taking corners fast.

i use my as a semi-daily driver simply because there really isn't room for much else other than another person.

if the S is going to be your only car then just make sure you have someone nice enough to let you borrow their car when a two-seater is going to cut it.

Mine has 5k miles per year but it can easily be reliable for daily driving.

I DD mine and love it. I dont need any more room for my commute to the office, I get close to 30mpg, and I have the drive home to look forward to in the S2000, instead of some misearble beater.
